The screeching brakes of the auto-rickshaw let me know that Id arrived at my destination. It was my first day of college. I couldnt believe I was pursuing my Masters of Law degree “ this was my dream. And it was finally coming true.

I made my way into the building, to fill out my registration form. As I began to jot down my details, I paused as I approached the gender section. I had been presented with only two options “ male and female. That realisation compelled me to pause and contemplate “ why were there no check boxes for us, people who occupy the space between male and female? Overwhelmed with emotion, I crumpled up the form and shoved it into my bag, out of my sight.

My first class for the day was on social transformation. We were debating sexuality. The professor had divided the class into two groups: to represent males and females. He asked me to join in. But which side did I belong to? The one I was born with, or the one I identified with? I took my place in the middle and said, œSomething as complex as gender can never be binary. I stand for everyone who refuses to be contained by these narrow definitions. I complete myself. The spectrum will only be complete when every side finds a place.

Later that day, I marked out a new check box and titled it ˜other. Ticking it, I knew I had begun a journey of personal and institutional transformation.

Viscose modal is a blend of two semi-synthetic fabrics, namely viscose and modal. Viscose is a type of rayon, which is also known as artificial silk. It mainly comprises regenerated cellulose that comes from wood pulp and other agricultural sources. Modal is derived from the pulp of beech tree. A combination of both these fabrics ensures that the resultant fabric is soft, breathable, lightweight, durable, and has excellent colour retention, absorbent and elasticity.
