Shed never been one for jewellery. She much preferred the simple adornment of fresh flowers that she picked up during her walks through the forest or the stark elegance of a bare neck and ears. So when she was told that shed inherited all her grandmothers ancestral gold jewellery, it came as a surprise to her. She saw the conch-shaped earrings that had been a family heirloom, and were said to have been gifted to them by a mysterious traveller in exchange for their hospitality. She saw glimpses of hope, of trepidation, of love, of loss. And she realised why those jewels had been bequeathed to her.
